Green Card Scheme

We work with Hayle Community School to provide the Green Card Scheme which allows easier access for young people to see a doctor or a nurse for sexual health advice at Bodriggy Health Centre at a time when the surgery is quiet.  Please see the school nurse or a teacher and you will be issued with a Green Card.  Bring the Green Card to the surgery and hand it to a receptionist who will arrange for a nurse or a doctor to see you.  The receptionist will not ask you any questions regarding your visit.  This is a confidential service.  Please see our Confidentiality Statement for Young People hereConfidentiality Statement for Young People

C-Card Scheme – Approved Site

C-CARD is a confidential, free condom distribution scheme for young people living in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. The scheme aims to make condoms more accessible and gives young people support and information about sexual health and how to use a condom correctly. C-CARD enables and empowers young people to readily access support, advice and condoms from a number of different locations across the County.

If you are aged between 13-21 years old you can register for a C-CARD. If you are aged 13-15 you will be required to undertake an assessment with a C-CARD trained worker and demonstrate that you are Fraser Competent. It is still illegal to have sex under the age of 16 however you are entitled to confidential contraceptive advice and treatment.

You can register for a C-CARD or collect your condom packs from us or indeed any organisation that displays a C-CARD logo. There are over 200 organisations offering C-CARD across Cornwall.

To get a full list of all the C-CARD registration and distribution sites in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly click here http://www.cornwallshac.org.uk/contraception/condoms/c-card-scheme/

Chlamydia Tests

If you are under 25, you can order a free chlamydia test online from freetest.me.  This service enables young people to order and conduct a chlamydia test for free in the comfort of their own home.  All you have to do is log on to the website www.freetest.me to request a test kit which will be sent to you through the post.

Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted disease.  If left untreated it can lead to serious health problems.

Young People and our Patient Participation Group

We are looking for new members to represent the views of young people who are registered at the surgery.  Please see our Patient Group section of this website for more information.  If you are interested in joining either our face to face group (they meet one evening every 3 months) or you may prefer to join our virtual group (were you can contribute and share your ideas by email), we would be very pleased to hear from you.
